CMC110 - Basic Estimating and Bidding
Course Description
This course is delivered through a fully synchronous online learning model, requiring students to attend live, regularly scheduled, virtual class sessions each week via video conferencing. In this course lectures, group discussions, and practical takeoff exercises will happen in real-time. This live digital format ensures students receive direct instructor mentorship, active collaboration, and immediate feedback on their calculations, combining the flexibility of online learning with the accountability of a real-time classroom

· Interactive Lectures: Detailed presentations breaking down industry-standard bidding strategies and procurement laws and estimating techniques
· Blueprint reading: Real-time screen-sharing sessions where the class analyzes project specifications and contract documents to identify hidden project costs and learn about what to look for on blueprints
· Practical Takeoff Exercises: Individual and digital breakout-room workshops where students use on-screen measuring tools and estimating to quantify materials from digital blueprints.
· Case Study Analysis: Group reviews of completed industry projects to evaluate real-world estimating errors, variance reports, and finalized bid submissions.
